Hi, I'm Allison.

I am a 500HR Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance studying to become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

I began practicing yoga 10+ years ago in search of a practice that could help relieve my stress and anxiety. I fell in love with so many aspects of the physical practice of yoga - the energy-lending playlists, the flow, and the ability to be out of my mind and in my body.

When I first began practicing I was the person who would leave class early before savasana (corpse pose) because "I didn't have the time to just lay there."

Luckily, I was able to practice with world class yoga teachers who emphasized the importance of reconnecting with the physical body as well as our own feelings, thoughts, and emotions. Including the feelings and thoughts of restlessness, or the "go-go-go" mentality I held that prompted me to leave class early.

Eventually I learned to love savasana, the final (and some teachers argue, the most important) pose of yoga class. The stillness is where my mind found ease for what felt like the first time in my life, ever.

As I began falling love with yoga as a physical practice, I was inspired and interested to learn more about it. In 2019 I received my 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher (200HR-RYT) Certification from Om Studios (Monterey) and I completed the Ki Yoga 300-HR Becoming A Master Teacher & Mastering the Business of Yoga program (Santa Cruz) not too long after.

I acknowledge that each individual who hits the yoga mat is at a different time and space in their life and that there is no “one size fits all” in yoga. It is through this knowledge that I use many different forms of yoga to help my students arrive, heal and transform. Some of these methods include: restorative yoga, meditation, breathwork, journaling, myofascial guidance/hands-on-assists (when in-person), balancing the energetic body, talk sessions, and of course, yoga practices.

I love to teach a vinyasa-style class sequenced to help burn off excess energy before bringing you to a cooling, restorative end of practice where you can find your own bliss.

"Allison offers a nice mix of engagement and serenity"

Allison offers a nice mix of engagement and serenity: she will push you (gently!), and she will soothe you. Having done yoga for several years now, I still always find myself trying some new pose or getting a fresh perspective in Allison's classes. She's real and hilarious, and will help you find a new depth of grounding. I only wish I could take classes with her in person! - though she wields the Zoom format like a pro. |  hw, public student
